American Idol winner Jordin Sparks will make her Broadway debut this August in In the Heights. The 20-year-old will perform with the musical from Aug. 19 through Nov. 14.
"It's always been one of my dreams to perform on Broadway," Sparks said on her website. "This is a brand new experience for me. I look so forward to spending time in New York City and joining this talented cast and my favorite new musical."

In the Heights, which won four Tony Awards including best musical in 2008, takes place in the New York City Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights. Sparks will step into the role of Nina Rosario, who returns to the neighborhood after having dropped out of Stanford University.
