The conspiracy theorists will hate this one: the White House was so caught off guard by the improving employment data released today that President Obama's speechwriters had to do major surgery on a draft of the remarks he later made today in Allentown, Pa, insiders tell The Mouth.
The Labor Department reported that the unemployment rate actually dipped to 10%, when many officials, including Obama, expected it to get worse. It was the best job loss data released since 2007.
